Understanding Japanese business culture requires a bit of education, so we offer an introduction course specifically for our candidates who are new to working in Japan, and those interested in learning more about business in Japan. It may seem like there are a lot of rules, and although that is the case, gaining some insight into the culture behind it all can make the adjustment period in your new job at a Japanese company go a little smoother. This is an introductory course that will help you make a great first impression with potential Japanese employers.

This is a 3-hour seminar to provide our candidates with some tools for success as they work towards landing a job in Japan. We believe some basic cultural understanding is extremely useful to people new to Japan, and we’ll cover general business manners and some common Japanese phrases you’ll likely hear in a Japanese office.

Part 1 – Practicing real-world situations

  • Interview practice
  • Exchanging business cards
  • How to appropriately behave in meetings

Part 2 – Japanese business culture

  • Communication styles: Japan vs other cultures
  • Decision making and relationship building: introduction

Ito san currently works at Artistar Co Ltd supporting the overseas expansion and training of global human resources through language education. Ito san spent 5 years working in the United States with global companies as a Japanese and English language educator. Since returning to Japan, she has been committed to supporting corporate clients’ global strategy, and providing training for global communication and negotiation.
